DESCRIPTION

Red lacquered wood.

Measurements: 52 x 91 x 64 cm.
Chinese chest, made around 1900, with a rectangular structure and flat lid, a widespread typology.
The cabinet is made of dark red lacquered wood. The front surface is richly carved with floral and vegetal motifs, recurring concepts in the Chinese ornamental repertoire. The metal fittings, solid and simple, reinforce the corners and the lid, as well as serving as closure and transport elements, since the chest has wrought iron side handles.
The piece rests on a base with short legs of sinuous profile, a detail that slightly elevates the main body. The chest responds to the decorative taste of the late Qing period.
