José Antonio Elvira is a Spanish sculptor and professor of Plastic Arts, born in Salamanca and settled for years in Avila. With a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca, he combines teaching with his artistic work, mainly focused on contemporary sculpture.
His work stands out for the use of recycled iron and other reused materials, with which he creates sculptures of strong social, human and symbolic content. Through his pieces he addresses issues such as memory, the rural environment, inequality and respect for the environment.
He has held numerous exhibitions and sculptural projects in Castilla y León. Among his best known works is a sculpture tribute to the people of the countryside and to the children who died without being baptized in San Juan del Olmo (Ávila), a work charged with emotion and historical memory.
