Plastic artist and designer brother of the painter and scenographic Santiago Pericot, Jordi Pericot is formed in the Escola Normal of Barcelona and in the school of Fine Arts of Tolosa (France). He furthered his studies with degrees in philosophy and art history. In 1958 he moved to France, where he was introduced to experimental film techniques, thus beginning his artistic career. After a period of time living in Paris, in the 70's he was appointed director of the Elisava design school, maintaining his artistic and cultural activity, especially in kinetic art. Pericot forms the group MENTE (in Catalan "Mostra Espanyola de Noves Tendències Estètiques"), where personalities such as Ricard Bofill, Ricard Salvat or Daniel Giralt-Miracle are grouped. In 1972 he represents Spain at the XXXVI Venice Biennial. Throughout his career as an artist he has exhibited his work throughout the national panorama, as well as in Ottawa, Helsinki or Santiago de Chile. His language is rooted in optical and kinetic research, through which he analyzes the different perspectives and their communicative value. The result, works full of light and color that reflect three-dimensional constructions.
