PABLO PICASSO (Malaga, 1881 - Mougins, France, 1973).
"Carnet Picasso. Madrid, 1898", 1976.
Facsimile edition made in phototype and pochoir.
With introduction by Xavier de Salas, director of the Prado Museum, Madrid.
Copy nº 00852/1000, with print run justification.
Published by Gustavo Gili, Barcelona.
Measurements: 11 × 18 × 2.8 cm.
Facsimile edition of the "Carnet Picasso. Madrid, 1898", published by Gustavo Gili in 1976, which reproduces one of the artist's youthful notebooks, dated during his stay in Madrid. The set allows us to approach the earliest Picasso, still in his formative period, but already endowed with an extraordinary capacity for observation and graphic synthesis.
Produced in phototypeset and pochoir, the facsimile reproduces the intimate character of the original notebook: quick sketches, figure studies, portraits and annotations that reveal drawing as an essential tool of thought.
Pablo Picasso is one of the capital figures of 20th century art. Co-founder of cubism and creator of an immense oeuvre that encompasses painting, sculpture, engraving, ceramics and drawing, his work is represented in institutions such as the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, the Musée Picasso in Paris, the MoMA in New York and the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid.
