Painter and draftsman, Perico Pastor began his training in Barcelona, then did his military service in the Sahara. He then moved to New York, where he lived for twelve years. During this period he published illustrations in "Harper's", "Vogue" and, above all, "The New York Times", works that allowed him to develop his painting with freedom. In 1980 he exhibited for the first time at the Cornelia Street Café, and in 1983 he held his first personal exhibition in a gallery, Estampa in Madrid. From then until 1989, he combined illustration and painting, holding exhibitions of his work in Spain and abroad, specifically in New York, Tokyo, Paris, Miami and Hong Kong, among other cities. He currently lives in Barcelona, where he devotes himself entirely to painting, although he occasionally illustrates for "El País", "La Vanguardia" and other media. His illustrations for the story "Amigos", by Loles Durán, won him the Santamaría prize for children's illustration. In 1993 he was awarded the Medal Morera of the City Council of Lleida, for all his work, and in 1997 the Special Prize of the COE in the Biennial of Sport in Fine Arts. He has also painted fresco murals at the Rivoli Ramblas Hotel, L'Illa and IMIM, all in Barcelona. Perico Pastor develops a work of great plastic lyricism, connected to totally daily themes and alien to doctrines, faithful to the spontaneity of feelings. He is currently represented in the collections of Caixa de Barcelona, the Testimoni de la Fundació Caixa de Pensions, the Marimura Art Museum in Tokyo, the collection of H.R.H. Prince Takamaro of Japan, the City Council of Barcelona, the Ministry of Justice in Madrid and the collection of the Bank of Spain, among others.
