In this work, Vasarely deploys one of the fundamental principles of his artistic research: the ability of geometry and color to alter visual perception and generate the illusion of movement and depth on a completely flat surface.
Through a complex organization of geometric shapes, hallmarks, chromatic contrasts and gradations of light, the composition seems to expand and transform before the viewer's gaze. The visual structures create a dynamic, almost hypnotic three-dimensional effect, where space seems to vibrate and shift continuously. This sensation of optical instability is one of the most recognizable hallmarks of Vasarely's plastic language.
Far from understanding painting as a traditional representation of reality, the artist conceived his works as authentic perceptive experiments. Influenced by constructivism, the Bauhaus and the scientific and technological advances of the mid-20th century, Vasarely explored the relationship between art, mathematics and visual perception, becoming a key figure in contemporary geometric abstraction.
In "Dom-Bor", the technical precision of screen printing enhances the formal cleanliness and chromatic intensity of the composition, allowing each geometric module to contribute to the overall optical effect. The viewer does not only contemplate a static image, but an active visual experience, where the work seems to constantly change according to the distance and the point of view.
