DESCRIPTION
ANTONIO SAURA (Huesca, 1930 - Cuenca, 1998).
"Gallery of America 1".
Five-color lithograph on Vélin d'Arches paper, copy 19/92.
Signed and justified by hand.
Measurements: 65x 50 cm; 78 x 62 cm (frame).
Antonio Saura developed a style linked to informalism and abstract expressionism, characterized by an intense gesturality, a reduced palette dominated by blacks, whites and grays, and a deep dramatic and existential charge. His compositions present deformed human figures, fragmented faces and violently expressive forms that reflect a critical and anguished vision of the human condition. Influenced by masters such as Goya and Velázquez, he reinterpreted classical themes through an energetic and personal pictorial language, becoming one of the most relevant figures of the Spanish artistic renovation of the second half of the 20th century.
