DESCRIPTION

ALBERTO ROMERO VILLALBA, (Cuenca, 1941).
"The river", 1987. Lost Horizons Series.
Oil on canvas.
Signed in the lower right corner. Signed, dated and titled on the back.
Measurements: 81 x 65 cm, 83 x 67 cm (frame).

Alberto Romero's "Lost Horizons" series, presented at the Frax Foundation, brings together works created over the last 20 years that explore mental landscapes and memories transformed into plastic metaphors. The artist describes these paintings as representations of internal spaces, where elements such as mouths, dawns and gorges blur towards abstraction in search of the purest essence. This series reflects his constant research of new artistic sources within contemporary painting, showing his evolution and conceptual depth.

Alberto Romero Villalba is a Spanish painter and sculptor with more than four decades of artistic career. His work is characterized by a fusion between painting and sculpture, creating what has been called "escultopaintings". He uses a wide variety of materials such as polyester, fibers, glues, fabrics and marble powders to give his works great volume and texture. Throughout his career, he has had numerous solo and group exhibitions, and has been awarded national and regional prizes, most notably his participation in the Beijing International Art Biennial.
