DESCRIPTION
Spanish or Italian school of the 18th century.
"Hunting day".
Oil on canvas. Relined.

Measurements: 105 x 168 cm.
In this canvas the painter shows us an Italianate landscape with architecture in the background and a hunting scene in the foreground. In this foreground we see a hunter who points his gun in the air, while his companion observes attentively the development of the acts. In the background, two other hunters converse while searching for their prey.
The Italianate landscape derives from the discovery by Dutch and Flemish painters of the Italian landscape, especially that of Claude of Lorraine. They were especially attracted by its lights, golden and pink tones on the horizon that determine diffused and idyllic, calm atmospheres. The Italianizing landscape painters will create less realistic landscapes than the rest of those found in the Central European Baroque, idealized and in a certain way artificial, scenographic.
