Màrius Vives received a solid artistic formation, being a disciple of Josep Llimona in Barcelona and perfecting his technique with Antoine Bourdelle in Paris. The piece was awarded the Medal of Honor at the "Salón de Otoño" of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Mallorca in 1956.
