The Tibaldi Clari Viri Limited Edition Viscount Horatio Nelson fountain pen is a masterpiece made of ivory resin, hand-painted and hand-carved by skilled craftsmen, made from a single piece of acrylic to ensure its strength and longevity. On its body is a miniature portrait of Horatio Nelson, airbrushed, while the cap features the iconic imperial eagle. This piece, designed and crafted by Lorena Straffi, is part of the distinguished Clari Viri (Figures of Greatness) collection, which honors history's greatest and most transcendent leaders.

The design of the Tibaldi Clari Viri Limited Edition Viscount Horatio Nelson pen is inspired by the Golden Ratio, also known as Phi, which influences every aspect of its structure. For example, the relationship between the cap and the visible section of the pen body, when closed, follows the phi ratio of 1.618.

Following the tradition of Tibaldi pens from the early 20th century, each solid gold tip is engraved with the "1a Qualità" hallmark, which guarantees exceptional writing quality. The platinum is carefully applied to the contours of the eagle and the words, which requires the skill of an experienced goldsmith. In addition, the thickness of the gold varies along the tip to optimize both flexibility and writing comfort.

Nelson is celebrated for his bold approach to combat and his tendency to disobey orders from his superiors. He joined the British Navy at age 12, and when Britain became involved in the Revolutionary Wars in 1793, Nelson participated in the capture of Corsica and the fighting at Calvi, where he lost the sight in his right eye. In 1797, he also lost his right arm during the battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. His tenacity led to key victories, such as the defeat of the Spanish fleet in 1797 and the victory at the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801, where he disobeyed orders to cease the attack, using his blind eye to look through the spyglass and saying he could not see the surrender signal. His most famous victory, at the Battle of Trafalgar, not only saved Britain from a Napoleonic invasion, but was also his last triumph, as he died on the first day of the battle.
