Ewer made in glazed ceramic that presents a zoomorphic format. The central piece is joined to the base, from which two legs at each end give way to the body of the animal. In the upper part we can appreciate the neck, and the top as a head, which has an opening in the center, shaped like a spout on a jar, in the upper area two small handles that harmonize with a larger one that is located in the rear area of the head and neck. The piece presents a decoration based on the blue finish, on which a black decoration can be observed with geometric motifs that take the form of a spiral, located especially on the back of this animal. No other attribute allows us to identify the breed of the animal.
Islamic ceramics have acquired great relevance and popularity among collectors, who value the aesthetic singularity and the technical advances that this culture contributed to ceramic creation. This work comes from Al Jariza, a site of great archaeological relevance, as it was located next to the Tigris and Euphrates, and therefore was one of the places with the first traces of sedentary settlements linked to the development of agriculture and the domestication of animals. When the city was invaded by the Muslims its splendor continued, being Iraq, one of the quality references in relation to the production of ceramics.
