BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Tibor. China, following models of the Qianlong period, 20th century.
Ceramic decorated by hand.
Presents seal on the base.
Measurements: 47,5 x 23 cm.
Tibor in glazed porcelain based on models made during the period of Qianlong, emperor of China between 1736 and 1795, belonging to the Qing dynasty. The tibor or mei-ping, of which we see here a particularly clean and essential form, is an inverted ovoid belly vase with a lid, intended to contain the first flowering branches of the cherry tree. This is a typology widely used within Chinese ceramic and porcelain production, both for the domestic market and for export. This example is decorated with court scenes contained in large cartouches, and a background completely decorated with plant and floral motifs. The lid features the round figure of a Foo's dog.
