DESCRIPTION

Goddess Isis. Egypt. Late Epoch, 664-323 BC.
Bronze.
Provenance: Private collection, United Kingdom.
Good state of preservation.
Measurements: 10,3 cm height.

Elegant bronze representation of the goddess Isis breastfeeding the child Horus, one of the most emblematic themes of Egyptian iconography, associated with divine motherhood, protection and regeneration. The goddess appears standing, holding the infant in an intimate and protective attitude, while on her head she wears the characteristic headdress with a solar disk between horns.

The modeling, with stylized lines and slender proportions, responds to the formal canons of the Low Period, where tradition and technical refinement are combined. The surface retains a dark patina with greenish hues that enhances the volumes and underlines its antiquity.

This type of figure was widely used as a devotional and protective object, both in domestic and funerary contexts, reflecting the popularity of the cult of Isis in the last periods of Pharaonic Egypt.
