DESCRIPTION
Set of nine jars; China, Ming Dynasty, 1368–1644.
Glazed porcelain.
They show slight signs of wear.
Measurements: 9.5 x 9 x 9 cm (largest); 6 x 5.5 x 5.5 cm (smallest).
A set of small porcelain vessels decorated in the classic blue-and-white style, achieved by applying cobalt oxide under a transparent glaze, although several of the jars feature black-on-white ornamentation. These pieces stand out for the precision of their craftsmanship and the delicacy of their ornamental motifs, which combine floral designs, birds, and highly elegant geometric patterns. This type of miniature vessel was a common feature of Asian maritime trade during the Ming dynasty and is frequently found in shipwreck sites, attesting to its widespread international circulation.
