Glass of the "Membrane" series designed by Toni Zuccheri for VeArt in the 70s, in Murano blown glass. The piece presents a cylindrical body of smoked glass, of great formal purity, crossed by internal applications in reddish, amber and honey tones, described in the bibliography as "autumnal membranes".

The apparent sobriety of the exterior volume contrasts with the organic intensity of the forms suspended inside, which evoke plant tissues, wings or natural fragments trapped in the glass. This tension between refined geometry and naturalistic vitality is characteristic of Zuccheri, marked by a look deeply linked to nature and an exceptional knowledge of glass techniques.

VeArt was founded in 1965 in the Venetian environment by Ludovico de Santillana and Sergio Biliotti, both linked to Venini. The manufacture was consolidated as a space for experimentation for designers and artists, including Toni Zuccheri, Luigi Massoni, Afra and Tobia Scarpa and Perry King.

Toni Zuccheri graduated from the University Institute of Architecture in Venice in 1968. His collaboration with Venini began in the early sixties and resulted in a singular work, in which observation of the natural world, rigor and technical experimentation merge into pieces of a strong sculptural character. His creations are part of important international collections, including the Museo del Vetro de Murano, the MoMA and the Guggenheim in New York.
