Severdonck specialized in historical and genre paintings and studied with Wappers. Walter Shaw Sparrow, who studied with him and considered him a remarkable artist, wrote about him in his memoirs. One of his battles is preserved in the Palace of Justice in Ghent.

In this watercolor of a knight on horseback, wearing a trench coat and top hat, his draftsmanship is evident.
