Benjamín Palencia resolves this intimate scene by means of a loose and expressive stroke, characteristic of the graphic language of his last decades, where the fast line and the color applied with freedom synthesize the scene with great spontaneity.
Benjamín Palencia was a key figure in 20th century Spanish art. Co-founder, together with Alberto Sánchez, of the Vallecas School, he developed a personal language linked to the Castilian landscape and to the renewal of avant-garde Spanish painting. His work evolved from approaches close to surrealism towards a poetic and essential interpretation of the landscape and the figure.
He is represented in important collections such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña (Barcelona) and the Museo de Albacete, among other institutions.
