The work is clearly inscribed within the Neoplasticism, current developed by Piet Mondrian and the De Stijl group, characterized by the formal and chromatic reduction. Pure geometric shapes, rectangles, vertical and horizontal planes, and a curved element are used, organized according to a rigorous compositional balance.
The exclusive use of red and black refers to Mondrian's essential palette, where color is not decorative but structural: each chromatic plane defines tensions, rhythms and spatial hierarchies. The alternation between solid masses and voids generates a sense of dynamic order, a fundamental principle of neoplastic thought.
Although Mondrian worked primarily in painting, this work transfers his postulates to three-dimensional language, exploring the relationship between plane and volume, stability and movement. The inclusion of the curved form introduces a subtle contrast to the dominant orthogonality, bringing complexity without breaking the overall harmony.
Overall, the piece expresses the modern search for a universal language, based on abstraction, rationality and balance between opposites, central values of European avant-garde art in the 1930s and 1940s.
