Gotlob (1885-1970) was part of the vibrant Parisian art scene. Although not as "popular" a name as Chiparus or Preiss, his work is highly valued by collectors of French bronze sculpture for its anatomical precision and expressive poses. The figure is captured in a moment of stretching or awakening. This dynamic vertical composition, emphasised by the raised arm, gives the bronze a sense of lightness and height.
