"Female nude".
Marble.
Signed.
Measurements: 71 x 19 x 18 cm.
Of this sculpture by Ugo Cipriani, the serene simplicity of the posture, the harmony of the forms and the essential beauty of the female body stand out. The limbs are soft and rounded, denoting the anatomy as a whole a sense of calm and solidity, with which the author seems to reinvent classicism.
The sculptor Ugo Cipriani was trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in his hometown, where he developed a solid academic base within the classical tradition. After the First World War he moved to Paris, where he consolidated his career and integrated into the international artistic environment, adopting a style influenced by Art Deco, characterized by elegant, stylized figures and great formal refinement; he worked mainly in bronze and marble, creating sculptures of female subjects, dancers and idealized figures that stand out for their sense of movement and harmony, and although he was not an avant-garde figure, he achieved notable commercial success and recognition in his time, being today valued in the decorative art market of the twentieth century.
