JOHANNES HEDEGAARD (Denmark, 1912-1999)
"Ballerina tying her slipper".
Bronze

Measurements: 53 cm (height)
Elegant sculpture representative of Johannes Hedegaard's production, in which the artist approaches the human figure from a modern sensibility, halfway between naturalism and a marked formal expressiveness. The figure, captured in an intimate, everyday gesture, shows a dancer bent over while adjusting her slipper, in a posture that emphasizes the elongation of the body and generates a composition of great dynamism and balance.
The modeling, with a vibrant surface and rich texture, preserves the direct imprint of the sculptural process, bringing intensity and presence to the figure. This approach, far from any academicism, places the work within the post-war European sculptural tradition, where the representation of the body becomes a means of emotional and plastic exploration.
Johannes Hedegaard is considered one of the leading figures of 20th century Danish sculpture. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, he developed a work focused on the human figure, characterized by his ability to combine formal synthesis and expressive charge. His work is present in major public collections, such as the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen, as well as in important Scandinavian institutional collections.
