In French, "femme coupée" means "the cut woman" or "fragmented". However, in this photograph we do not see a woman, but a doll and her story. This doll has lived a crazy life: dancing, playing and partying so much that she has lost part of her body in the chaos. The vibrant colors, the shiny confetti and her serene expression create a haunting contrast, as if capturing the exact moment where fantasy and reality collide. The image explores the tension between fragility and excess, the idea of losing herself in pleasure until she breaks, transforming herself into a character within her own surreal tale.

Lídia Vives is a photographer and visual artist based in Barcelona. She has exhibited in museums and galleries such as the Louvre and the Saatchi Gallery, and has been published in media such as Vogue Italia or Esquire. Her work mixes pop aesthetics, social criticism and pictorial references to create powerful, beautiful and uncomfortable images at the same time.
