DESCRIPTION
Corner chair; China, c. 1930.
Lacquered wood and iron fittings.
Measurements: 180 x 84 x 41 cm.
Chinese corner cabinet, dated around 1930, of transition between the traditional forms of the late Qing dynasty and the adaptations produced in the Republican period. It is a piece of furniture with a vertical structure and triangular plan, specifically designed to take advantage of the corners of the rooms, made of lacquered wood, which retains a soft patina and natural aging. Iron hardware on the doors and drawer add a decorative and functional accent.
The corner unit is composed of two open upper levels, a central drawer and a lower compartment enclosed by two doors, suggesting a mixed use of display and storage.
In stylistic terms, this piece is part of the continuity of the Qing aesthetic, but with a more refined and practical language, adapted to modern needs.
