Conceived as an artist's book, this piece traces the aesthetics of Antonio López's artistic career. The book case itself has been conceived as a work of art, since it shows a detail taken from one of the sketches made by the artist for his sculpture La mujer de Coslada. In addition, it is a tilting case on the back, which allows it to be placed as a lectern, although it can also be hung. Inside is a book containing a selection of several works by Antonio López, some of them life-size, to which are added several texts by the artist himself and important critics such as Rafael Argullol. Finally, the set includes the print entitled "Rosas de Ávila", a digital print on 315-gram Velin Musem paper.
Painter and sculptor, Antonio López studied in Madrid, at the San Fernando Academy, and Italy, where he traveled thanks to a scholarship. During his student period he formed, together with other artists such as Enrique Gran, Amalia Avia or Lucio Muñoz, what has come to be called the Madrid School. After finishing his studies, in 1957, he made his individual debut in Madrid. Since then he reiterated his presence in galleries in Europe, the United States, China and Korea, and in 1993 the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid dedicated an anthological exhibition to him. He is a member of the San Fernando Academy, and his awards include the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts and the Velázquez Award for Plastic Arts. In 2008 the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston dedicated a monographic exhibition to him, and in 2011 the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao will do the same. He is represented at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the ARTIUM in Vitoria, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Juan March Foundation and the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao, among others.
