CRISTINA IGLESIAS (San Sebastian, 1956).
"The wall", 1990.
Etching, copy 45/75.
Signed and justified by hand.
Measurements: 56 x 76 cm (paper).
Etching by Cristina Iglesias in which the artist evokes a stony and monumental structure by means of strips of dark matter that frame a central space of light. A work with a strong tactile and architectural charge, representative of her interest in limits, memory and the construction of space.
Cristina Iglesias is one of the most internationally recognized Spanish sculptors. Trained in London at the Chelsea School of Art and later at the Pratt Institute thanks to a Fulbright scholarship, she has developed a career marked by spatial and material research, combined with her teaching work at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. She has been awarded important prizes such as the Grosse Kunstpreis Berlin, and has participated in biennials such as those of Venice, Sydney and Taipei. Her work has been exhibited at the Tate Modern in London, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Henry Moore Foundation, the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo or the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, and is part of collections such as the Centre Pompidou, the MoMA and the Guggenheim in New York, the Reina Sofía in Madrid or the Tate Gallery, among others.
