Currently based in Los Angeles, Victor Castillo began his love affair with drawing at the age of five, nurtured by the aesthetics of science fiction, cartoons and the iconography of iconic albums such as The Wall. After his time with the experimental collective 'Caja Negra' in Santiago, his move to Barcelona in 2004 marked a turning point where he consolidated his characteristic pictorial language, which hybridizes the imaginary of comics with the classical tradition. His discovery of Goya's Black Paintings at the Prado Museum imbued his work with an academic technique that contrasts with his subversive narrative. Represented by galleries such as Merry Karnowsky (USA) and Helium Cowboy (Germany), his work is part of prestigious private and museum collections. His large-scale mural interventions in institutions such as the MNBA and the GAM in Chile, as well as in the CCCB in Barcelona, stand out, consolidating him as an inescapable figure of international contemporary art.
