National Design Award in 1992, America Sanchez (whose real name is Juan Carlos Perez Sanchez) was one of the Argentine designers who, from the 60s, left his country to settle in Spain, at a time conducive to the renewal and promotion of Spanish graphic design. He has spent most of his career in Barcelona. He has worked for the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, La Caixa, the Barcelona City Council, the Liceo Theater, the comedians Tricicle and the Barcelona Football Club, among many other important clients. Experimentation, identity and pop-art are key words in his career. His work has been recognized internationally and has been part of exhibitions in different countries. In 2018, the archive La Fuente acquired a good part of his work for its private collection. In 2019, a major retrospective, América Sanchez, clásico, moderno, jazz, tropical, was dedicated to him at Palau Robert, in Barcelona, and at Centre Cultural-Llibreria Blanquerna, in Madrid.
