Saint Francis de Sales was a catholic clergyman. He was named bishop of Geneva, Switzerland, but he could never occupy the position due to the Calvinism and he remained in his Savoy residence of Annecy. Coming from a noble family, he chose the path of Christian faith by dedicating his life to God and renounced all his titles of nobility. He became one of the most respected theologians of his time. He left an important written testimony on the Christian life. In 1923 the Catholic Church named him patron saint of journalists and writers.
