"Portrait of a young woman with hood".
Oil on canvas. Relined.
Measurements: 49 x 40 cm.
The attentive face of this young woman with lace hood tells us about her restless personality. The clothing allows to ascribe the piece to the French school of the XVIII century, period in which the coiffe or bonnet was consolidated as an essential element of the feminine attire, combining the decorum and the hygiene with the dictates of the fashion, as it is observed in the production of the painter Jean-Baptiste Greuze. The model's privileged status, probably linked to a moderately well-off social class, is evident in the subtle luxury of her gold earrings. Likewise, the slight smile and the complicit gaze of the protagonist personify the mischievousness and vitality of youth under the Rococo aesthetic.
