The present abstract composition is clearly related to this artistic current, opposed to the figurative, which aims to reduce art to its essential elements (chromatic, formal and structural aspects) rejecting the "mimesis" and external models to the artist's conscience. Its birth is related to three movements of the 19th century (Romanticism, Impressionism and Expressionism) and, above all, to certain works of Paul Cézanne, whose reconstruction of reality also gave basis to Cubism, and to other currents (Expressionism, Post-Impressionism).
