Although little is known about the Cuban painter Fernando Luis, it is known that after the triumph of the revolution, he traveled and exhibited in Spain (International Painting Biennial of Barcelona in 1967), Holland, Czechoslovakia and France, where he represented Cuba in the Fourth Biennial, which awarded him a mention. In the United States he came into contact, above all, with action painting. The influence of American painting on the young generation is decisive. "There is the point of rupture with the old generation: Amelia Pelaez, Victor Manuel, Carlos Enrique. They were influenced by Europe, let's say, more precisely, by France, by the Paris school", Fernando Luis pointed out in the newsreel "La Nueva Pintura" in 1970.
