Eyvind Olesen was a singular figure in the Danish cultural panorama of the XX century, converging in his career his spiritual vocation and artistic sensibility. He graduated from the Sorø Academy in 1926 and, moved by intellectual concerns, began studying theology. At the same time he cultivated poetry and stood out for his translations of old German hymns, in which he revealed a remarkable literary and musical sensitivity.
However, it was in painting where he found his most personal language and the field in which he achieved the greatest recognition. His work reflects an attentive, introspective look, deeply linked to his vital environment, influenced by the French painters of the beginning of the century, such as Cézanne.
