Landscape of marked impressionist sensibility where nature acquires a leading role. In the foreground, the partial presence of a boat on the right works as a compositional resource that introduces the viewer into the scene and guides the gaze towards the lake and the horizon.
The work is built from an abundant vegetation resolved in a rich range of greens and blues, while the blue sky, animated by golden reflections, brings luminosity and atmosphere. In the distance, small human figures appear integrated into the landscape, reinforcing the sense of calm and daily life.
The loose and vibrant brushstroke evidences the heritage of French Impressionism, favoring the capture of light and visual impression over minute detail. The work is part of the French landscape painting of the mid-twentieth century, a direct heir of the Impressionist tradition. In this period, many artists continued to explore the effects of natural light and atmosphere as the main expressive elements.
Following the influence of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, the landscape became a space for chromatic and sensorial experimentation rather than a strictly realistic representation of the landscape.
