Pair of tea cups made of underglaze glazed porcelain, with delicate painted scenes framed and partially gilded lacquer details, characteristic of the orientalizing taste promoted by Johann Gregor Höroldt Under the direction of Johann Gregorius Höroldt, Meissen defined its own decorative language that combined the oriental tradition with a fully western interpretation, becoming an undisputed reference of excellence and prestige in the eighteenth century.
From the stylistic point of view, polychrome decorations of great technical refinement predominate, with scenes of oriental inspiration, fantastic landscapes and exotic figures, executed with a rich and balanced palette on the characteristic white background of hard porcelain. The forms, still restrained and elegant, anticipate the rococo taste without abandoning a clear narrative and ornamental vocation.
