Painter trained in commerce, Joaquim Llucià entered the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc in Barcelona in 1954, and the following year he made his first trip to Paris. Three years later he visited the exhibition "50 Years of Modern Painting" in Brussels, where he met the Russian abstractionists, especially Malevich, who was to exert a key influence on his work. Co-founder of Cicle Art d'Avui, he exhibited frequently in Barcelona and other parts of Spain, as well as in Denmark and Sweden, and participated in group exhibitions in Italy and Great Britain.
