Jacques Germain was born in Paris in 1915, at a time when European art was in full transformation. From a very young age, he was attracted to art and began his training at the Ranson Academy in Paris, where he had as teachers some of the most influential artists of the time.

During the 1930s, Germain traveled to Germany to study at the famous Bauhaus school in Dessau. There he was a student of key figures of modernism such as Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, who profoundly influenced his artistic thinking and introduced him to the world of abstraction.

Throughout his career, Jacques Germain remained faithful to lyrical abstract painting, a style that combines free forms, movement and a poetic sensibility. Unlike other more rational or geometric abstract artists, his work was characterized by a great freedom of expression, with energetic strokes, dynamic compositions and a very emotional use of color.

Despite not being as much in the media as some of his contemporaries, Germain was highly respected in French artistic circles. He exhibited regularly in Paris and other European cities, and his work was recognized for its coherence, depth and plastic quality.

Jacques Germain passed away in 2001, leaving behind him an artistic career faithful to the principles of abstract painting. His work continues to be valued by collectors, critics and art lovers, especially by those who appreciate abstraction as a form of free and spiritual expression.
