The canvas on tender, executed by the Danish painter Jørgen Hansen in 1888, shows a view of the city of Rome at sunset. On the skyline of the eternal city, the silhouette of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica, as well as other distinctive buildings, is imposingly visible. The golden light bathing the scene adds a magical and evocative touch. A young woman dressed in folk costume rests on a rooftop next to a basket of flowers, adding an anecdotal and narrative touch to the composition.
