The son of Francisco Galofre Oller, also a painter, he began his studies at the La Llotja School in Barcelona under the tutelage of Josep Mongrell. He later continued his training in Madrid, and at the age of twenty-two he joined the Association of Watercolorists of Catalonia. Galofre Surís was deeply immersed in the Noucentisme artistic movement, as evidenced by his work, which focuses primarily on the female figure. In his works, women are always serene and introspective, and when he tackles the subject of landscape—whether natural or idyllic—he always does so with great purity. He exhibited early on in Madrid and Barcelona, and in 1929 he took part in the International Exhibition in Barcelona. Beginning in 1930, he exhibited his works in Barcelona’s leading galleries. He later participated in major events such as the Hispano-American Art Biennial held in Madrid in 1953. His work is currently on view at the Ampurdán Museum in Figueras, as well as in various private collections.
