A painter, muralist, and decorator active in the first half of the 20th century, Stolz Viciano—the son of Ramón Stolz Seguí—always signed his works with both his last names, possibly to distinguish himself from his father. His father was also his first teacher, with whom he began his artistic training; he continued this training—after studying at the Industrial School of Valencia (1917–22)—at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia (1922–24) and the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid (beginning in 1924). He subsequently undertook a series of trips throughout Europe between 1926 and 1935, and during his stay in Paris he specialized in fresco painting. In 1936, he was appointed interim professor at the San Fernando School, and that same year he participated in the National Fine Arts Exhibition. He was later appointed full professor (1943) and elected a member of the Royal Academy (1958). After the war, he worked on the restoration project of the frescoes by Goya, González Velázquez, and Bayeu at the Basilica del Pilar in Zaragoza, where he also painted several murals. He would later carry out restoration work and create murals at sites such as the Teatro Principal in Valencia, the Real Cortijo de San Isidro in Aranjuez, the Civil Government Building in Santander, the Ateneo Mercantil in Valencia, and the City Hall of the same city. Today, his works are also preserved in collections such as those of the Prado Museum (work on loan to the MNCARS), the Museum of Jaén, and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
