Original poster designed by Joan Miró for the 1982 World Cup in Spain. Commissioned by the tournament’s organizing committee, the artist created a vibrant and instantly recognizable image, translating his unmistakable artistic universe into the language of poster art. The composition brings together some of Miró’s most characteristic elements: a figure rendered in spontaneous black lines, biomorphic forms, highly intense primary colors—red, yellow, blue, and green—and gestural lettering that crowns the composition with the word “Spain,” integrating painting, drawing, and calligraphy into an image of tremendous visual power. The red sphere alludes to a soccer ball, while the dynamism of the figure conveys the movement and festive spirit of the championship.
