This Flemish painting of Baroque period shows two young people on a dark and neutral background. The illumination highlights the faces and the hands, modeling with delicacy the factions, emphasizing their freshness. The dark-haired, long, wavy figure looks up and to the right with an expression of wonder or curiosity. Her complexion is clear and her expression lively. To the left, a girl, with light brown hair, has flushed cheeks and a playful smile. She wears a copper-colored robe with puffed sleeves and puckered white cuffs. Both seem to be longingly guarding a small object, perhaps hidden from the view of their elders. They are portraits brimming with spontaneity, playful and naturalistic.
