With a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and a master's degree in Photography from the Central Saint Martins School, Jesús Madriñán has become a point of reference in the national photographic field. He uses analogue photography to reinterpret and update portraiture as an artistic genre, focusing on youth, diversity and tolerance (series Good Night London (2011), Boas noites (2013), Dopo Roma (2016), or I Am Light (2019), as well as the everyday and the banality of the known. Jesús Madriñán's career includes numerous solo exhibitions, including: I Am Light -Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea-, Mil noches y una noche -Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània, Valencia-, El tiempo revelado -Centro de Arte Alcobendas, Photoespaña-, and those dedicated to his series Good Night London at the Centro Cultural Kavlin in Punta del Este, Uruguay, and at the Spanish Cultural Centres in Mexico City and Montevideo. He has also participated in prestigious festivals and art fairs such as Paris Photo, Unseen Amsterdam, Photo London, ARCO, and the International Photography Awards in New York. In turn, Jesús Madriñán combines his practice with the commercial and teaching fields, having worked as an associate professor at the Universidad Autónoma del Caribe (Colombia), and is currently working on commissions for The New York Times, TIME magazine, ABANCA, Marie Claire, and the advertising agency Shackleton.
