Floor lamp of the "torchere" type with a structure in wrought and cast iron, work of the workshop of P. Fédy & C. Biasca, "Ferronniers d'Art", located in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune. The stem rises on a tripartite base of curved and curled legs, topped with scrolls and flowers. From the start of the three supports emerges the aforementioned stem, of quadrangular section, which ascends to a central node decorated with a semicircular medallion, this one inhabited by a bird.
The whole, with a black patinated surface with silvery reflections typical of the natural oxidation of iron, displays all the organic vocabulary of Art Nouveau: intertwined stems, curly leaves or flowers in relief.
The finial houses the Muller Frères lampshade, made of bent glass. The glass presents a rich range of warm tones that merge into misty scrolls, an effect achieved by superimposing layers of intercalated colored glass. When the lamp is on, the light diffuses through the glass to create a warm, enveloping atmosphere.
Muller Frères, founded in Lunéville in 1895 by the Muller brothers, direct disciples of Émile Gallé, produced some of the most refined stained glass and decorative glass of the period.
