"Virgin.

This devotional painting represents an image of the Virgin Mary following iconographic models of Italian Renaissance roots, reworked by Central European workshops from the sixteenth to eighteenth century with an unmistakable taste for delicacy and meticulous detail. He achieves tactile effects of luminosity in the flesh tones and fabrics. The Virgin is portrayed bust-length, slightly turned to her left, with a serene and melancholic expression, a perfect embodiment of the Marian ideal of sweetness and inner recollection. Her greenish blue mantle, a traditional symbol of purity and divinity, falls in soft folds that frame the oval of her face, whose modeling is constructed by means of soft gradations of light, accentuated by the warmth of the golden background. One of the most notable elements of the work is the white gauze that partially covers her forehead, delicately knotted under her neck. The very fine glaze responds to an almost miniaturist sensibility. The pictorial technique, careful to the point of preciosity, is at the service of an idealized and close image, destined to move by means of a calm and luminous beauty.
