José Borobio was an architect from Zaragoza noted for his versatility and prolific career. He studied architecture in Madrid, graduating in 1931 and working with important architects such as García Mercadal and Anasagasti. After completing his studies, he returned to Zaragoza and in 1940 joined his brother Regino's studio, establishing himself as a renowned architect.
Borobio designed everything from homes and settlements for the National Institute of Colonization to major works such as the Zaragoza Trade Fair and the Autonomous University of Madrid. He was a school architect in Huesca, secretary of the College of Architects of Aragón and Rioja, and performed various functions during the Civil War.
In 1944, he was appointed to a position at the National Institute of Colonization, where he designed 31 settlements in Aragon and Catalonia. He was awarded the Encomienda del Mérito Agrícola (Commendation of Agricultural Merit) and obtained the title of Doctor of Architecture in 1965. He also received the Silver Medal of the Zaragoza Trade Fair in 1969 and in 1971 he was appointed consultant architect to the Bank of Spain.
