BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
JOSEP POMÉS ABELLA, (Tarragona, 1940). "Paris". Oil on canvas. Signed in the lower left corner. Signed and placed on the back. Measurements: 60 x 75 cm, 76 x 90 cm (frame). Josep Pomés was formed in the Artistic Circle of Sant Lluc of Barcelona, and later he received drawing classes of the painter Pascual Bueno. In Barcelona he met a group of young painters with whom he rented a small room called Sala de Arte Moderno, where they held both individual and collective exhibitions. In this room Pomés held his first exhibition, which would be followed by many others in Catalonia, Madrid, Navarra, Cadiz and, abroad, Miami and New York. In fact, his first important personal exhibition took place at the Montserrat Gallery in New York in 1990. Throughout his career Pomés has been distinguished with the First Prizes Sallent (1967), Cornellà and Poble Espanyol (1968), Hospitalet and Gràcia (1969), Vilassar and Sitges (1970), Les Corts (1971), La Cènia (1978) and Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc (2008), as well as the Special Painting Prize of Tossa de Mar (1969) and the Extraordinary Angel Marsà of the Villa de Palamós (1992).
