Ramón Moscardó studied in his native Barcelona, at the Sant Jordi and La Lonja Schools of Fine Arts. In 1971 he was awarded the Santiago Barceló prize in the competition for young painters organised by the Sala Parés, a competition in which he won first prize in 1975. Moscardó has also won prizes in the "El Correo Catalán" Young Painters' Competitions, where he was awarded First Prize in 1972 and 1973, the Ybarra Special Prize in 1972 and Third Prize in 1975. He also works in engraving and illustration, and has held individual exhibitions of his work both in Spain and abroad, as can be seen in the exhibitions held at the D.J. Lester Fine Arts in Los Angeles (1984) and the Kwai Fine Arts in Hong Kong (1996). He has also participated in group exhibitions such as "The new impressionists" (The Brentwood Portfolio, Los Angeles, 1978), at the I.G.I. in Chicago (1990), Art Asia in Hong Kong (1994), Claire Oliver Fine Art Stuart in Florida (1994), Davis Messum Fine Art in London (1997-98) and several organised by the Sala Parés, where he has been exhibiting regularly as a solo artist since 1978. The artist himself describes himself as a painter "of towns and people". In his urban landscapes, interiors and diverse environments, he displays to the full his intuitive capacity and his acute sense of capturing the environment. His paintings mainly depict scenes of everyday life: bars and terraces full of people, corners of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, streets with passers-by and beaches at night. His painting, based on a language of agile strokes and splashes of colour, offers us renewed visions of reality. Moscardó is currently represented in the Col-lecció Testimoni de La Caixa (Barcelona), as well as in various private collections.
