The style of this jewel is framed within the Greek or Etruscan revival, a characteristic aesthetic of Lalaounis, who was inspired by archeology and Hellenic art. The firm Ilias Lalaounis, founded in Greece by the master goldsmith of the same name, is recognized worldwide for reviving ancient jewelry techniques and basing its creations on the rich history and Hellenic mythology. Born in Athens in 1920 into a family of goldsmiths, Ilias Lalaounis took over the family business in 1940 and later founded his own firm in 1969, based at the foot of the Acropolis. His vision was to transform artifacts from Greek museums into modern, timeless jewelry, using forgotten techniques such as granulation, filigree, hand weaving and hammering.
