BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Vase for the Japanese market; China, 20th century.
Glazed porcelain.
With mark.
Measurements: 18,5 x 15,5 cm.
Hexagonal vase made for the Japanese market, with a hexagonal typology very much to the taste of this clientele. It is decorated with a beautiful composition of shrimp swimming on a stylized marine background, motifs that are brushed in cobalt blue enamel applied under the glaze, with various gradations that evoke the appearance of ink painting. On the base there are apocryphal marks, as a tribute to the past, alluding to the reign of Guangxu, belonging to the Qing dynasty, who ruled China between 1875 and 1908.
